Colorful, intricate, minute cloisonné Japanese dish with butterflies surrounding Mt. Fuji.

A small dish with a central medallion of Mt. Fuji surrounded by pines. The central medallion is surrounded by a myriad of colorful butterflies. The designs are crafted with iron red, yellow, blue, pink, white, turquoise and black enamels. The underside is enameled in turquoise and resembles scalloped fish scales. The plate has a shallow brass foot.

MEASUREMENTS

4 5/8” (11.7 cm) diameter x 5/8” (1.6 cm) tall. Weighs 4.7 oz (135 g)

CONDITION

There are no dents, chips, cracks or breaks. The enamels are bright and entire. There are tiny wear scratches to the center. The glass enamels have a modest amount of pitting.

A small treasure of the Japanese metal arts. The butterflies dazzle the eye.
