A vanity mirror with a pale green hardstone handle, a finely-detailed metal band and a porcelain back with a pretty a design of a pomegranate and peony.

The hand mirror has a round mirror on one side and a round porcelain back with design of pomegranate in fruit and a peony bush done with over glaze enamels. The mirror and back are secured by a thin copper like metal mount with repousse designs of flowers and beads. The mirror has a good weight to it.

The handle and base are a pale green hardstone secured to the mirror by another metal repousse band. The stone, which is cold to the touch, translucent and has a soft hand-polish, resembles jade but isn’t dense enough to be jade. Air bubbles are not visible and so we’ve ruled out glass too. The stone is very pretty.

CONDITION

There is wear to the porcelain surface and a few scratches on the mirror. There are no breaks, chips, or cracks.

A colorful mirror that can be used or purely as decoration. It will look good on a desk or table.
