A matched pair of heavy, useful bookends with a classic literary theme.

A heavy pair of bookends made of iron that have deep casting and a dark shiny finish. The design is of the character Dante deep in thought seated on a bench. According to the "Collector's Encyclopedia of Bookends" by Louis Kuritzky & Charles De Costa. these bookends are rare.

Both backs are stamped with "COPR 1980 ALIGHIERI DANTE" with the letter C in a triangle and circle.

MEASUREMENTS 5 ¾” (16.6 cm) tall x 5 ¼” (13.3 cm) wide x 1 7/8” (4.8 cm) deep. Weighs 4 lb 3.9 oz (1925 g)

CONDITION There are no breaks, dents, or cracks. Both bookends are missing their felt on the base. They have what looks like rust in the fine line crevices on the figures and bases.

A heavy useful pair of bookends with a strong connection to literature and books.
