Heavy and useful pair of bookends from the deco era with strong muscular horses are running in sea waves.
Molded gray metal bookends with copper patina in the shape of prancing horses in sea waves. You can see the mold lines. They are mirror images with the fronts being flat to hold books. The design is classic art deco, with spare detailed deep designs. To protect surfaces, they have had cork sheets applied to the bases.
7 ¼” (18.4 cm) tall x 5 ½” (14.0 cm) long x 2 ¾” (7.0 cm) wide. Weighs 4 lb 12.6 oz (2.2 kg)
One horse has had loss of patina. It still has copper high lights but the main body shows the gray metal through the copper finish. This horse also has cracks in the metal under the horse’s belly and on the base. There are cracks in the front of the horse on the flat front and on the folded front feet. The other horse does not have patina loss or cracks. They still look whole, but one horse has a dull not shiny finish.
A strong pair of book ends that are useful and deco stylish. These horses will keep those books back.
