A fantastic over the top Victorian silver plate card receiver that is so fun and whimsical!
The casting is of a water nymph with lotus in hand riding a duckling. Tree branches with leaves rise to form the support of the card tray. The card tray has down turned corners and has a fine wave like border. The circular base has a repousse floral band above the foot. The base is indented.
There is a stamped mark on the base that reads MIDDLETOWN PLATE CO QUADRUPLEPLATE. These words circle a set of scales. Below the circle are the words HARD WHITE METAL and the production number 232.
6 ¾” (17.1 cm) wide x 6 ¾” (17.1 cm) deep x 5 ½” (14.0 cm) tall. Weighs 1 lb 5.1 oz (595 g)
There are no breaks, or cracks. There is a dent on the breast of the duckling. There is some wear but the piece has shined up nicely.
This card receiver is a rare treat that’s so fun and childlike. A great card receiver to add to a collection or admire in the home.
