Heavy metal cake basket with ornate repousse of Japanese fans, owls, hummingbirds, butterflies, and a crane in the central medallion. The piece has shined up well and still has much silver. The handle has an elaborate top. It has nice banded decoration at the base and around the rim.
It has an impressed mark underneath that reads, “DERBY SILVER Co. DERBY CT QUADRUPLE PLATE”. The trademark has an anchor with crown surrounded by a circle.
8 ½” (21.6 cm) diameter x 10 ½” (26.7 cm) tall with handle extended. 4 7/8” (12.3 cm) tall to lip of basket. Weighs 2 lb 3.8 oz (1020 g)
It has no cracks, dents, or breaks. Although there is some wear to the silver, it still has much silver and sines nicely. The handle stands on its own and It sits level on a table.
A great piece to use at an elaborate function. It has a rich shiny look.
