A small floral repousse basket by one of the best silver plate companies in America. I love the handle finial that looks like a twined rope.
A heavy silver plated metal dish with crimped edge. The body has a repousse design of a myriad of flowers. The professional work on the piece is evident. The line quality on the flowers is exact. The basket has a thin handle with a rope twined finial. The handle will still stand upright. The base is flat.
There is a central etched mark on the base. It reads, DERBY SILVER CO. QUADRUPLEPLATE 1129.
5”(12.7 cm) wide at the handle. The body is 4 ¾” (12.1 cm) diameter x 2” (5.1 cm) tall. 5” tall (12.7 cm) with the handle extended. Weighs 9.0 oz (250 g)
The interior and base has some scratches from wear. There are no dents, cracks, or breaks. It still has quite a bit of silver and took a nice polish; however there is some wear, especially on the handle.
An attractive small Victorian basket to add to a shabby chic, Victorian or eclectic décor. The flower motif is tiny and artistic.
