A classic silver plated domed butter dish by Middletown that will make your dinner table rich and unique.
The finial on the domed lid is of a cow standing on a field of grass. The domed lid fits snugly on a round base with a pierced round insert to keep the butter out of the ice. The base foot has a floral repousse band. The foot rests flat on a surface and does not rock. There are a pair of hooks on the front of the butter dish to hold a butter knife. A butter knife is not included.
The dish has a stamped mark on the base. MIDDLETOWN PLATE CO. QUADRUPLEPLATE in a circle around a scale. There is also the stamped words HARD WHITE METAL and the production number 435 ½.
6” (15.2 cm) diameter x 6” (15.2 cm) tall. Weighs 1 lb 9.4 oz (720 g)
The piece has a shine but most of the silver has been polished off, except under the dome, where it’s still very shiny. There are a couple of very shallow dents on the lid and a small dent to the foot. The middle insert has a dent on one edge. There are wear scratches on the interior base. There are scratches from wear throughout but they are tiny and not very noticeable. The dish has a nice shine from the base metal. A butter knife is not included.
A great butter dish to add a bit of whimsy to the table. After all, what is more consistent with a butter dish than a cow.
