A large deep blue transferware plate with an Italianate pattern called Genoa. It has a thick, soft feel.

The heavy, molded ceramic plate has a deep blue transfer of a scene of visitors at a ruin with a village in the background. The plate has a very shallow foot ring with a glazed base. There is a large pattern crazing to the glaze.

The deep blue transfer mark on the base reads GENOA in an ornate cartouche. Above is the word GRIMWADES, and below are the words DAVENPORT MADE IN ENGLAND.
