A heavy ceramic frog glazed in a rose pink matte glaze made by the Rookwood pottery.
The heavy molded ceramic is fashioned with holes to hold flowers in an arrangement. The molded decoration on the top of an abstract petal pattern refers to Arts and Crafts or Art Nouveau. There is a raised foot with cut outs and is partially glazed. The base is glazed.
There is the Rookwood mark on the base with backward R and P in a sunburst. The mark also has the number XXI, the production number 162, and the initials RB.
4 ¼” (10.8 cm) diameter x 1 5/8” (4.1 cm) tall. Weighs 1 lb 6.2 oz (630 g)
There are no cracks, chips, or breaks. There are some black marks from rubbing on one side and some white marks from wear nearby. The top is in very good shape.
A great Rookwood piece to be used and enjoyed.
