An incredible work of art with minute expert paintings mainly in gilt that is so very fine in all regards.

The small light weight ceramic vase has a high shoulder, a short, small neck and flared mouth. It has matching stylized gilt dragon handles at the shoulder.

The vase has been glazed with a fine off white crackle glaze and then painted with overglaze enamels to form an incredible painting of Immortal figures. So much gilt enamel has been used that it glitters like a piece of gold jewelry. The faces are tiny masterpieces.

The foot ring is raised and is not glazed. The base is glazed. There are two marks on the base. One is a cross within a round circle, known as the kamon (family crest) of Satsuma's ruling Shimazu clan. The cartouche has two characters (possibly reading simply “Satsuma”)
