A large tray with a nice off white glaze that has been decorated with a feather motif. This has been painted with a nice contrasting deep cobalt blue.
A very large, heavy, low fired ceramic platter that has a molded feather and shingle border. The glaze is thin and has a dark cobalt painted border. The base is flat and is glazed. It has a deep well.
There is a circular impressed mark on the base that reads; ADAMS WARRANTED STAFFORDSHIRE.
16” (40.6 cm) long x 12 ½” (31.8 cm) x 1 3/8” (3.5 cm) tall. Weighs 2 lb 13.1 oz (1280 g)
There are two large chips under the rim. There are three sets of three little marks on the back along the rim. Two are along the corners of one side and the other is in the middle of the opposite rim. I believe they were for drilled for hanging the platter.
There is wear on the edge of the base. The feather molding is worn in spots. There is much wear over the front and back from real usage. It’s old and was used heavily. With all of the damages, it has given the tray a nice softened look of age.
A great piece to decorate shabby chic, English country, Victorian, you name it. It will give a note of substance, size and age to your home.
