A pair of teacups with amazing tiny, colorful, expert paintings that have that nice fine Satsuma crackle glaze.

The light weight ceramic teacups have applied handles and a fine crackle in the off white glaze. The teacups have been decorated with detailed designs of a dragon surrounded by bodhisattvas painted in red, blue, browns, white, and green over glaze enamels. The painting is extensive and very fine. Gold has been used to accent and line.

There are characters in a red rectangle on the base of each.

MEASUREMENTS

3 ¾” (9.5 cm) diameter x 4 ¾” (12.1 cm) wide x 2” (5.1 cm) tall. Total weight 10. 8 oz (305 g)

CONDITION

There are no chips, cracks, or breaks. There are kiln flaws like bumps, pin holes and black spots. One mouth rim has a bump and a red spot that are kiln flaws. The glazes are still fresh bright and extensive.

An incredible pair of Satsuma cups that are works of art by the Japanese. It is amazing how fine the painting is.
