An ancient ribbed celadon bowl with a very nice blue green thick crazed glaze that has survived to the present. The bowl just oozes history and age.
The bowl has ribbed sides with clay adhering on the inside and then was fired on. The glaze is thick, soft, and has that ice and fire look. The crazing looks like ice cracks. The glaze color intensifies in the ribs to a nice jade blue green color. Wheel marks are visible on the unglazed base. The clay is a reddish color and rather course.
4 5/8” (11.7 cm) diameter x 2 5/8” (6.7 cm) tall. Weighs 8.4 oz (240 g)
The bowl rim has a piece re-cemented in place. There is a hairline crack from the rim. There are kiln flaws such as the clay adhering on the inside well and near the foot. There are many bumps and pinholes. There are glaze misses near the foot. There is wear to the central well.
An ancient bowl with a wonderful color and feel to add interest and substance to your collection or décor.
