A bright and shiny copper luster milk jug that has hand painted designs of flowers that will glow in a dark room.
A low fired ceramic that has been glazed with a shiny copper glaze “luster” (or “lustre, if you’re English). Around the neck is a narrow band with pink/purple flourishes on a white ground. Around the belly is a wide band of purple, green and copper luster flowers and leaves, on a cream ground.
The jug has a florid handle, a molded spout and a shallow, partially unglazed foot. The copper glaze coats the inside of the jug down the neck. The lower portion of the interior is glazed in a cream colored glaze. The base is glazed.
The jug was manufacturerd in the mid 1800's by Sunderland Potteries of England.
7 ¼” (18.4 cm) wide x 5” (12.7 cm) diameter x 6” (15.2 cm) tall. Weighs 1 lb 5.9 oz (620 g)
There are no cracks, breaks, or chips. The glaze is still very bright and shiny. There are wear scratches but they are very small and don’t distract from the look.
This pitcher is so bright that you will need sunglasses. It will glow in a dark room. It will add to so much to your home décor.
