A fabric design like a crazy quilt makes this Aesthetic Movement plate stand out. The transfer is well done in brown color with floral and geometric designs.
A low fired ceramic plate with an off white base glaze that has a transfer pattern in a darker brown that covers the surface of the plate. The plate glaze has a very fine crackle. The plate has two molded acanthus leaves on either side of the upper surface edge. The plate is large with a low rise to the cavetto. The underside and foot ring are glazed. The design is of blocked off areas that are filled with floral or geometric designs. The detailing is fine and intricate. It forms a crazy quilt like pattern.
There is a manufacturer's mark on the back that reads WALLIS GIMSON & CO with the pattern name FLORIS LIGNA. There is also a small pictorial mark.
10 1/8” (25.7 cm) diameter x 1” (2.5 cm) tall. Weighs 1 lb 8.3 oz (690 g)
There are no cracks or breaks. There are tiny rim frits that don’t show but you can feel them when you run your finger around the rim. There are wear scratches on the plate surface. The plate for the age and usage is still bright and shiny.
A great Aesthetic Movement plate to add to a collection or give age and substance to your décor. It will look great with Shabby Chic or Victorian.
