A colorful hand-painted and thinly-potted porcelain plate with a mandarin at home with his children and parents. I love how the plate central medallion is like a painting. The bats in the band are auspicious and unique.
The painting is very fine with minute details like robe designs, facial features and gilding. The background gilding in the cavetto sets off the intricate and colorful paintings.
The plate has an unglazed cut foot with a white paste showing. The glazed base shows no marks or labels.
8 3/8” (21.1 cm) diameter x 7/8” (2.2 cm) tall. Weighs 15.0 oz (425 g)
There are no chips, cracks, or breaks and the plate rings true. There are kiln flaws, such as black spots, glaze reserves, and bumps. There is light wear to the gilding especially on the rim.
The plate has the look of a flat art painting. The intricacy is amazing.
