A molded porcelain pedestal bowl that is hand decorated in very finely painted designs of cranes, plum blossoms, and Japanese maples. The interior well has a design of maple leaves swirling in water. The painting is very accurate with the use of gilding to bring out contrasts and added glitter. The bowl has a crimped mouth rim and a shallow unglazed squared foot. The base is glazed. The base has a hole for the firing process.
There is a two-character Japanese mark in iron red on the base center.
5 ¾” (14.6 cm) diameter x 4 7/8” (12.4 cm) tall. Weighs 1 lb 5.2 oz (600 g)
There is a tiny chip on the mouth rim, but otherwise, there are no cracks or breaks. The enamels are still bright and not worn.
An amazing Japanese bowl with such a refined and delicate design that will make a rich addition to the home décor or collection.
