A delicate, hand painted blue and white porcelain teacup and saucer with landscape designs with fishermen, birds, trees, water, and buildings. The saucer has a brown glazed back. The cup and saucer were likely not originally a set but they are well matched.
The thinly potted teacup and saucer have been made from a refined white clay and glazed in a very soft bluish tinged glaze. The cobalt used for the painting is a deep smoky blue Both have a refined, smooth, unglazed shallow foot ring.

CONDITION
The teacup mouth rim has numerous frits but no chips. The saucer has a rim chip with a hairline in the glaze coming off of the chip. It doesn’t go through to the back, though The saucer has some rough spots on the foot and the teacup has one rough spot on the foot. There are kiln flaws, such as pinhole reserves and black spots. They both have wear in the central wells.
A very old teacup and saucer with minute and accurate painting. A great addition to a collection of blue and white.
