A nice large bowl with rich paintings of flowers and butterflies. The blue is a nice deep rich color.
The hand potted porcelain bowl has a bluish tinge to the glaze and has been painted with a nice deep cobalt. The design is of scholar rocks with plantings of peonies, bamboo, and chrysanthemums with butterflies hovering above the plants.
The bowl has a raised, unglazed foot. The clay used is refined and white. The glazed base has a Buddhist twin fish design with a double blue ring.
Please note that we have a matching bowl in our shop to create a pair.
6 1/8” (15.6 cm) diameter x 3” (7.6 cm) tall. Weighs 12.3 oz (350 g)
There are two tight hairlines from the bowl mouth, but the bowl still ring clearly. There is a small rim chip. There is wear in the central well. There are kiln flaws such as tiny black spots and pin hole reserves. The appearance is still shiny and bright.
A very old large bowl to add to a collection or decorate with blue and white.
