An antique porcelain covered jar that has been decorated in cobalt blue scrolling peonies. The lid has a Buddhist lion finial.
The heavy round porcelain jar has an unglazed, cut, and shallow foot ring. The base is glazed. The glaze is thick and soft feeling. The decoration is a nice dark blue cobalt. The jar mouth and lid underside are not glazed. There are small lug handles on each side of the jar.
6 ¾” (17.1 cm) diameter x 7 ¾” (19.7 cm) tall. Weighs 3 lb 0.5 oz (1375 g)
There are no cracks or breaks except for damage to the foo lion lid finial. There are kiln flaws, such as pin hole reserves, bumps and black spots. There is wear on the jar’s mouth rim from usage.
A great jar with lid to add to a collection of blue and white porcelain.
