An antique Chinese dish for export that has an interesting leaf shape. The hand painted cobalt design is the precursor of the willow pattern.
The molded porcelain dish has a nice medium underglaze cobalt design of temples, mountains, water, willow, and boats. The base glaze is very thick, soft, smooth and looks shiny. The dish has a broad blue border with a scalloped edge. The cut foot is shallow and unglazed. The base is glazed and has an almost orange peel bumpiness. It is quite heavy for its size.
There are no labels or marks.
8” (20.3 cm) long x 6 ¼” (15.9 cm) wide x 1 ¼” (3.2 cm) tall. Weighs 1 lb 0 oz (450 g)
There are no cracks, chips, or breaks. The dish rings true. There are glaze losses at the leaf stem edge. There are kiln flaws such as black spots, bumps, and pin holes. There is slight wear to the central well. The dish has a bright, shiny appearance.
A great shaped dish to add interest to your blue and white collection. Add a touch of richness and age to your décor.
