A colorful enameled plate with many auspicious symbols. Much hand work was used in the manufacture of this plate. The painting is very delicate.
A round thinly potted porcelain plate with a shallow cavetto. The cavetto has a design of red flowers on a green scale background, with floral panels inset into the green panels. The central medallion has many Daoist symbols, such as flowers, bat, and fruit bordered by a key fret pattern. The designs were painted with iron red, blue, pink, green, yellow, gray enamels, with a bit of gilding on the rim. Black was used to outline and accent. No under glaze cobalt was used.
The shallow cut foot ring is unglazed but the base is glazed. There is grit around the foot ring from firing. There are also glaze spots. There is a mark in a square on the base in iron red.
8 ½” (21.6 cm) diameter x 1” (2.5 cm) tall. Weighs 13.0 oz (370 g)
There are a few tiny rim chips on the rim edge. There are no cracks or breaks. The plate rings like a bell. There is some wear to the enamels such as the endless knot and the gold rim.
A colorful delicately painted plate to decorate your home. A plate with so many auspicious symbols.
