An intricate, colorful, expertly hand painted and potted Japanese porcelain that has an underglaze cobalt dragon in the central medallion.
A round heavily potted porcelain plate with a bright white base glaze. There is a central medallion painted with under glaze cobalt in the design of a circular dragon in the clouds. He has accents of gold outlining. The rim of the plate has two alternating designs that are references to the seasons; one is of chrysanthemums and the other is of bamboo and prunus. The designs were painted in pale blue, green, iron red, gray, and gold over glaze enamels. There is much gold on the plate. The underside is painted with under glaze blue leaf scrolls with iron red accents. The foot is shallow and unglazed. The base is glazed. You can see the potter’s wheel marks under the glaze.
There are no porcelain marks or labels.

The plate has no cracks, chips, or breaks and rings like a bell. There is wear on the plate surface and to the gold painted rim. There is also wear to a patch of bamboo and to the gold border of the mums.
