Delicate, finely painted and potted blue and white saucers with paintings of birds in a tree surrounded by peonies. They are painted in the Kangxi style.

A thinly potted matched pair of porcelain saucers that have a thick, unctuous, shiny, and blue tinged glaze. They are hand potted. You can see the potter’s ring marks under the base glaze. The cobalt used is a medium to deep cobalt blue trying to approximate the Kangxi blue. The paintings are very well done with good line quality and shading. There are blue lines at the mouth rim and above the foot and a double ring on the base. They have shallow unglazed foot rings. The bases are glazed.

There are matching marks on the base in Chinese characters. They read Jianxi Guohua Zhenpin and refer to the sprouts of capitalism that germinated during the late Qing Dynasty in response to greater exposure to western markets.
