A delicate cinnabar lacquer flower carving mounted into a fine silver wire mesh mount that was gilded with gold.

An oblong deep red cinnabar lacquer plaque was hand carved with a peony pattern. The carving is deep and well done. The mount a fine filigree mesh made from silver wire. This is bordered on the outer edge by a ball and circle repeating band. The back has a swirling fine wire pattern.

There is the word CHINA stamped on the back edge. The does not have a silver hallmark.

MEASUREMENTS

2 13/16” (7.5 cm) long x 15/16” (2.4 cm) tall x ¼” (.64 cm) thick (not including the pin). Weighs .52 oz (14.77 g)

CONDITION

There are no breaks, dents, or chips. The wire mesh border circling the lacquer is uneven and pinched in a couple of spots. The pin has an antique oxidized look to the metal.
