All that glitters is like gold with this Egyptian design necklace by the famous jewelry maker Miriam Haskell. I love the Egyptian columns surrounding an Egyptian goddess. The workmanship is very fine.
A round metal disc with a gilt finish that is decorated by repousse tooling. It has weight but is not heavy. The design is of Egyptian columns with an arch over the central figure of an Egyptian goddess. She holds a lotus in one hand and a staff in the other. The background is a lined herring bone pattern.. The disc has a repeating barbed edge with a scrolled design loop at the disc top edge. The hollow center chain is woven brass. It has a nice weight and good movement. It flows well in the hand and has shine. The clasp at the top is a bar which attaches by loops to the floral chain ends.
There is an attached oval tag at the clasp with the words MIRIAM HASKELL stamped on it. The clasp itself has the words MIRIAM HASKELL stamped on it. The stamping comes through to the other side, indented in reverse.
14 ½” long x 2 ½” diameter x 1/8” thick. Weighs 1.9 oz (55 g)
The disc front has a few pale oxidization spots. They are pale enough not to be noticeable. The back has a few larger and darker spots. The disc glitters with a shine like gold. The chain has a pinched area near the disc on the left. It is toward the back and doesn’t detract from the look.
A great necklace with that exotic look of the ancient pharaohs of Egypt. A great piece to add to your jewelry collection especially if you collect Miriam Haskell.
