A well and deeply cast Chinese bronze belt hook from the Qing dynasty with a chilong facing the parent dragon with an offering of the lingzhi fungus in its mouth. I love the raised scales on the baby dragons. The details are very fine. They show the hair, the fungus, the teeth, tongue, lotus scrolling on the back, and even a partial taotie mask on the back. The bronze has a nice warm gold color. The buckle fits together exactly.
There are no marks or labels.
3 5/8” (9.2 cm) long x 1 1/16” (2.7 cm) tall x 5/8” (1.6 cm) thick. Weighs 2.8 oz (75 g)
There are no breaks, dents, or cracks. There is some wear and light corrosion to the bronze on the back from use.
A great piece of the metal workers art. I love the fine detail of the casting.
