A colorful hand worked metal teacup and saucer that were enameled with purple and blue peony flowers. They have some weight and the metal is copper colored and this has darkened with age. You can see the copper color more plainly on the rim and handle. The enamel is thick and shiny. Both pieces have shallow foot rings and bases that are enameled.
The bases have the word CHINA stamped into the metal and then coated with enamel.
Cup measures - 3 ½” (8.9 cm) long x 2 ½” (6.4 cm) diameter x 1 ½” (3.8 cm) tall.
Saucer measures – 3 5/8” (9.2 cm) diameter x ½” (1.3 cm) tall.
Total weight 3.7 oz (110 g)
There are no breaks, cracks, or dents. There are some enamel losses on the underside of the saucer. And modest wear to the enamels on the saucer rim. The teacup has a small dark spot on the enamel of the inside wall. The teacup outer body has a few minor enamel losses, which might just be painting and firing errors.
A fun small teacup and saucer that has much handwork and artistry.
