A colorful, minutely-painted copper dish with a scalloped edge and enameled with a key fret border, shou symbol, bats and a scrolling peony design. The decorations were painted with delicate pink and blue; with accent colors of green, iron red, black and gold. The shallow foot is unglazed. The base and back are glazed with a turquoise enamel. The painting is very fine with good line quality.
There are no marks or labels.
4 ½” (11.4 cm) diameter x 5/8” (1.6 cm) deep. Weighs 3.1 oz (90 g)
There are no dents or breaks in the metal. There is a large patch of enamel loss on one side on the under rim. There is also crazing in the enamel under the rim. There is wear to the gilding on the shou symbol in the central well. There are a few spots of wear in the enamel on the ridges. It still has a very nice bright entire look.
A very fine painted enamel dish with age. The painting is so minute.
