Ornate picture nails with red and clear glass designs in the shape of stars were used to hang paintings and other artwork during the Victorian era.

Each nail has an iron back with a long screw and an iron mount that holds a glass insert. This insert has a faceted clear portion with a central red insert in a star pattern. When light hits the picture nails, they have a shiny, reflective quality. The metal mounts have a beaded edge and a dark color.

There are no manufacturer marks or labels.

MEASUREMENTS

Each nail measures 1 1/8” (2.9 cm) diameter x 2” (5.1 cm) long. Total weight 1.3 oz (40 g)

CONDITION

There is rust on the screw backs. There are no cracks, chips or breaks. One screw is slightly bent. The glass inserts sparkle and shine.

A useful decorative trio of picture nails for an authentic Victorian look.
