An old conjoined pair of rank badges that were either never used or were for sale to tourists.
A rectangular piece of black silk has been embroidered with a bird (which we believe is a red headed flycatcher) surrounded by moths and flowers. These designs were embroidered using a satin stitch of green, red, violet, and gray silk and couched gold threads. The border has an embroidered key fret design. The back is lined with turquoise silk.
Someone has written in English cursive script using blue ink the words “Made in China” on the back.
22” (55.9 cm) long x 11” (27.9 cm) wide. Weighs 1.8 oz (55 g)
There is fading but there are no loose threads, rips, or tears. The piece looks great for the age.
A nice old Chinese embroidery to add to a collection or be framed and hung on the wall as a rich looking addition to your décor.
