A large and important museum-quality nickel-plated bronze, this figure of a dancing woman with tambourine and scepter was done by Andre Gilbert an early 20th century French sculptor, noted for Art Deco figures. . The figure itself with the staff is 16.5” H and with the marble base the total height is 21.5” Pictured on page 152 in the book “Art Deco and Other Figures” by Bryan Catley, this piece is titled “Bacchant with Thyrse” and is hand-signed “A Gilbert” in script on the marble base. It is in impeccable condition and was well cared for. This is a piece for the advanced Art Deco and bronze collector and would complement and be an outstanding piece for any home or collection.
