In a word - Magnificent! A rare and exceptional Art Deco Austrian Goldscheider figure of a dancing girl. This fine porcelain piece evokes motion with the dancer standing on tip toes with her arms raised above her head. A large and heavy piece, it stands 19.25” tall, 17” wide and 15” deep. The figure is beautifully decorated with wrist and ankle bracelets, a necklace and beads in her hair. The dancer is hand painted and finely detailed, particularly the intricate pattern on the skirt. It is in excellent condition; there are a few minor and tiny fleabites along the border of the dress, mentioned for accuracy. This figure is shown as Model Number 4495, c1917 on page 105 in the book “Goldscheider” by Ora Pinhas. The outside rear base is marked with artist signature and the numbers “4495 70 65” The underside of the base is marked “Goldscheider Wein Made in Austria” with various other markings including the factory decorator’s initials, see photos. This is a top shelf piece for a discerning Art Deco or fine porcelain collector.
