This very beautiful brooch depicts a gazelle or antelope in an exquisite, Art Deco-influenced pose. It is in the manner of the work by Casa Prieto, a silversmith based at Av. Juarez 40 in Mexico City during the 1940s.
It is huge, measuring 3.75" tall and just shy of 1.75" wide. It weighs 14 grams and is stamped 'MADE IN MEXICO SILVER' on the back.
This pin is unsigned, but similar examples signed by Casa Prieto can occasionally be found on the market (and obviously priced higher).
Circa 1940s, this pin is in very good condition with a working clasp on the back. There are a few tiny dings, mostly on the back and barely worth the mention. Certainly nothing that detracts and we have left the sterling patina for the buyer.
Perfect for wear or collection, this vintage brooch is sure to please.
