"A lady without jewels is like a night without stars."
Established in 1939, Antonio Castillo and his brothers founded "Los Castillo," a design and manufacturing enterprise well-known for their sterling jewelry.
Castillo began his career working for William Spratling at "Taller de Las Delicias" and married Margot van Voorhies Carr, also known for her sterling work.
Antonio Castillo passed away in 2000, and his pieces are highly collectible by the jewelry collecting community.
This exotic pin features a semi-nude mermaid, stamped "Los Castillo, Taxco ~ Alex ~ Mexico 925 ~ Sterling," on the lower back.
It measures 2" high x 1.5" wide with a functional safety clasp. It weighs 10.8 grams and is in excellent condition. There is a light, age-related sterling patina and this piece is without damage.
A wonderful addition to your vintage jewelry collection.
