Large antique stoneware crock with a reddish brown glaze, 8.25" high without lid. Bottom measures 7.5" across and the interior top opening is 4.5" across(big enough to get your hand in there). With the lid it is 9" high. The recently lathe turned top is made of ash and features a pattern in concentric circles. It has been left unfinished but can be waxed or oiled to bring out the wood grain. There are no problems with the crock condition. The glaze has great character with different depth of brown colors and a few places where the maker's finger marks(well over 150 years ago!) are seen. A nice utilitarian piece that has survived the years.
