Beautiful 1800's walnut burl clock case, probably English or American, with EN Welch 8 day brass strike and time movement. The case is mostly solid walnut carvings with walnut burl veneer on the clock face surround and the tapered drop. Very high quality work to the case with carved wood, veneer work and one bottom turned finial. The 12" face is a painted tin metal and has age spots but no flaking or peeling. The American brass works by EN Welch of Forestville, Connecticut, is in working order, keeps time well, and is in all original condition. It was often that these cases were made in Great Britain and were "married" to American clockworks. The finish is old but good looking. The glass covering the face is original with a wavy effect. It measures 35" tall and 17"at the widest point.
