This 8-1/2" x 10-1/2" x 1-3/4" thick cream colored late Victorian celluloid and velvet photo album holds twenty cabinet photos, five smaller photos and one snapshot in its pale green gilt edged thick board pages. Ten more slots for the smaller photos are not filled. The celluloid front is embellished with a silver angel carrying a torch as he presides over silver apple blossoms and the fancy letters that spell the word, "Album". The celluloid front is attached to a faded and lightly worn velvet back. The cream color is peeking through the silver more than it once did, a sign of its 120 year old existence. The celluloid cover is good except for tiny chips at the corners, and roughness along the opt and bottom edges. Paper slots inside have mended corner breaks where the photos are usually inserted, and the metal clasp is partly missing. It does hold cabinet cards of the 1890s that can be replace with your family photos, if desired, but either way, it is a nice piece of photographic history, and fun to see how many of the family resemble each other. Thank you for visiting.
