This tiny pre-1900 straw doll's hat still has its tag inside attached to the straw, although it is no longer legible. It measures just 4-3/4" in diameter with a 1-1/2" opening for the head, and a round crown about 1" high. the original thin dark green woven band lies around the crown, while the unbroken tie hangs 10"(20" in total) down from where it is attached. As shown in the photos, there are a few dings around the edge of the brittle straw. It looks as though it had been mended at one time, although the stitching is still intact, so it is hard to tell. Perhaps the close-up photos help. It would be charming placed in a small shadow box frame. Thank you for visiting.
