A large doll or tiny child carried this vintage white wicker basket purse in the early part of the 20th century. A 1/2" wide lavender ribbon weaves horizontally through the wicker and ends with a lavender and white silk ribbon rosette that hides the button toggle closure. 2-1/4" diameter at the base of the bottom widens to a 4-1/2" diameter top covered with a lid that has a "D" shaped handle that lies flat or stands up. From base to top of lid measures 4" tall, with another 1-3/4" added when the handle stands erect. I think the charm of this little handbag is showing its age with the stretched elastic closure and the aging of the white paint to ivory, as well as a bit of paint loss, and light soil that tints the elastic. This is a perfect accessory for your largest doll, or a wee purse for your tot to carry! Thank you for looking.
