Presented is a Samuel Lewis solid bronze match holder/ashtray from about 1900. According to an old ad in a supply catalog from 1895, the Samuel Lewis Company furnished the railroad industry with building supplies, cleaning materials and the like. Interestingly though, according to the advertisement "cuspadores and spittoons with removable cups a specialty". Note that the holder is attached with machine screws. A very well made piece with a great old patina.
In excellent condition it measures 4 1/2" high and at the base it is 4 3/8" round. Please e-mail us with any questions.
