This is a lovely paper lace and handpainted picture.
I would date it to the early to mid 19th century.
The paper lace panel is very beautifully designed with a pierced background and stylized leaves in the corners.
The central motif has four decorative extensions with tiny gold painted edges and black painted half circles at the ends.
The central panel is a religious painting, fully handpainted not just hand colored.
Below the central panel is a ribbon type scroll with handpainted edges and a central Latin script.
There are four tiny painted flower designs in the centre of each four sides of the lace.
There is a faint gold line around the central part of the paper lace.
The paper lace is on a black board and is framed with a narrow wooden frame.
Very interesting antique item.
Condition: One edge of the frame is loose, and there is minor age discoloration on the paper lace.
Size: Framed is 8 by 8 1/2 . Paper lace is 6 1/2 by 5 5/8 inches.
