A wonderful set of handmade cloth dolls made on the Champs Elysee C1910.
The dolls were family dolls sold to me by a relative of the original owners, a wealthy lumber baron family with 7 children.
Every summer, the family, the children and the nannies would take a trip to France.
On one of these trips on the Champs Elysee , a beggar lady was selling these dolls that she had made with scraps of lovely material obtained from remnants of the elegant couturier shops.
Each of the dolls is crafted of fancy material with clay arms.
The faces are cloth as well, with hand painted features. Each is dressed differently.
Muslin pantaloons, silk shoes, tiny bead glass buttons, tiny woven straw hats, bits of ribbons and bows and tufts of mohair wigs.
The set is a small artistic treasure.
Condition: Overall very good. Some wear commensurate with age.
Size: 6 3/4 inches to 7 inches
