This is an interesting Victorian Snood or small hat type covering for the back of a bun hair do.
Queen Victoria is pictured with hats like this and I would imagine it dates from the same time period.
It is made of hand made bobbin Maltese lace which covers the whole exterior, and has a wire armature to form the shape.
The interior is pink silk and white muslin and appears to be all hand stitches.
There are some silk grosgrain pale pink ribbons on the top forming groups of small bows.
A very pretty 19th Century snood.
Would be lovely on a large antique doll.
Condition: Some age wear on silk and minor age discoloration.
Basically very good.
Size: 9 inches form top to bottom point of lace. About 11 1/2 inches around wre armature.
