This is a very lovely needlepoint from the 19th century.
It is wool on linen and is a scene of a sailor saying good bye to his family with his ship in the background.
Lying in the foreground is his faithful dog done in high relief stump work.
The needlework is an a shadowbox type frame as the dog in high relief need to be away from the glass.
Very heartwarming image.
Condition: Some age discoloration on the linen, but overall very good.
Size: Framed 23 by 16 3/4 by 1 1/2.
