This silver bolo tie features a face carved from black obsidian surrounded by an ornate headdress, and it has a faint Sterling mark. It is an authentic Mexican piece of its type, and was probably made in the 1970's. This tie is in very good condition, with a smooth finish, sterling tips, and no damage or problems with its front or with the stone of the face. There is one area on the back that looks like a small repair, but it doesn't affect either the structure or the appearance of this striking tie.
The centerpiece of this bolo measures 1 7/8 inches tall by 1 3/8 inches across its widest part, and the leather tie is 36 inches
long, not including the tips, which are each 1 3/4 inches long. This tie is unusual in that it has a definite pre-Columbian look to it, and the carving of the face is sharp and definite. This piece would make a great gift for someone who loves bolos (and jewelry) that are unique and different, whether that would be you or someone on your list.
