Pretty little late Victorian pendant which I think is in gilt metal. It is set with a shell cameo depicting a female head in the manner of a classical Greek nymph. The carving is very nicely detailed and the beveled frame is also engraved.
I think this started life as a brooch as there is a small blob of solder on the back of the frame and a tiny gap on the opposite side where fittings have probably been removed. Neither fault is seen from the front. Condition is otherwise good and this is a very sweet, extremely wearable piece measuring 27mm x 23mm (1 1/16" x 7/8") approx., not including the ring at the top.
