A really pretty antique shell cameo bracelet from the late Victorian or Edwardian era. It is adorned with a total of eleven well-carved cameos featuring the heads of female deities from Greek and Roman mythology. Among them are Diana, goddess of the hunt with her crescent moon; Psyche, who sports a butterfly wing, representing the soul; Flora, goddess of spring with flowers in her hair and Hera, queen of the gods, wearing a diadem. The oval cameos are bezel set in unmarked white metal that is very probably continental silver but has not been tested to confirm. With their double row of interconnecting links the cameos display beautifully and flow smoothly over the wrist. The bracelet closes securely with a hidden push-in clasp. Its wearable length is approximately 17.5cm (6 7/8") and the total length from end to end including the push-in clasp is 18cm or 7 1/16" approx.
Condition is great with only minor signs of normal wear for the age. The links are nice and strong and the cameos all sit tightly in their bezels. Just a couple of fine lines in the shell can be seen when held up to light but are not otherwise noticeable. There are no chips or cracks.
A lovely antique bracelet on a classical theme that is sure to delight!
