This wonderful antique rebus heart features an enameled pansy and the words "A Thought For Me". Pansies and forget-me-nots were probably the two most popular and symbolic flowers of the Victorian era. Pansy is derived from the French word "pensee", which means thought. In the Victorian language of the flowers, pansies were symbolic for "Think of Me". The heart charm measures 11/16ths of an inch by 5/8ths of an inch. The back has been engraved with the letters "H.L." (or possibly "H.S.") and is marked sterling. The back has one very small light area of wear on the second letter at the top. Condition is very good with light surface wear. This heart could stand a good cleaning and I will leave that decision to the new owner. This is guaranteed to be a period charm and is not a reproduction.
